Anti-war campaigners accused the government of "hypocrisy" yesterday over Libya as Prime Minister David Cameron sought to back rebels in a regime change.
National Transitional Council fighters held "the vast majority" of Tripoli yesterday as the downfall of Colonel Muammar Gadaffi's regime seemed certain.
After a meeting of the National Security Council on Libya Mr Cameron urged Col Gadaffi to stop fighting as the Libyan dictator's regime was in "full retreat."
He said that Col Gadaffi's future should be put in the hands of the new Libyan authorities, stating it should be a "Libyan-led and Libyan-owned process."
Assets which had been frozen under the Gadaffi regime would be released to the Libyan people soon, Mr Cameron added. More...
