Disgraceful, embarrassing, and absolutely hilarious.
These were some of the online reactions to the modified lyrics of a Lady Gaga hit song, Bad Romance, which celebrated the contents of this year's National Day Parade (NDP) goody bag. It was performed at an NDP rehearsal last Saturday and a clip of it was put on YouTube and Stomp.
And now, the parade organisers say they did not realise that the public performance rights which they had secured for the song did not allow them to modify its lyrics. The chairman of the NDP show segment, Colonel Ong Tze-Ch'in, said in a statement last night: "We are currently working to rectify this".
The organisers had planned to repeat the performance for a pre-parade segment on National Day itself, Aug 9.
But going by netizens' sentiments that were being expressed online, a repeat performance may not go down well at all. More...
