Marine Le Pen, the leader of France's far-right National Party, has suggested that Paris should turn French-speaking parts of Belgium into a new region of France.
The statement, effectively proposing that France should take over half of Belgium, comes as Belgians from the Dutch-speaking north and French-speaking south struggles to agree on how the country should be run. As a result, the nation has been without a government for more than 400 days.
On Belgium's national day, Ms Le Pen said that if Belgium could not remain united, Paris should "extend a hand" to French-speakers, or Walloons, and suggest they vote on whether they want to become part of France, the Guardian reports. More...
