An online campaign was launched early today (Tuesday) by Egyptian activists to stop sexual harassment.
Following an incident in March, when men harassed and threatened female protesters in Cairo, activists have called for more severe laws against sexual harassment.
At least 83% of Egyptian women have been sexually harassed at least once, according to the Egyptian Centre for Women’s Rights. Moreover, 40% of women affirmed that they had been sexual assaulted.
"A woman's protection is not her responsibility alone, but the responsibility of all the women around her and the men who want to prove they are against harassment," activist Lobna Darwish wrote in Arabic on Twitter, according to News24. More...
