British royals hosted world's despots ...

Senior figures from the regimes of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Swaziland as well as other despots with recent acts of violence against their own people on their hands attended the UK royal wedding on Friday.

British human rights campaigners and peace activists denounced the royal family for putting royalty and protocol before human rights.

“The invitations are a massive misjudgement by the monarch,” British human-rights activist Peter Tatchell has said.

“They show the Queen is out of touch with the humanitarian values of modern, liberal Britain. She's putting royalty before human rights. The guest list displays a shocking insensitivity to the suffering of people who have been persecuted.”

"It's deplorable that the Queen has invited royal dictators from Bahrain, Swaziland and Saudi Arabia who preside over severe human rights abuses, including detention without trial, torture and violent repression of protests", Tatchell said. More...
