MALAYSIAN police on Monday said they were holding a religious school teacher suspected of beating to death a seven-year-old pupil who was accused of stealing seven ringgit (S$2.90).
Mohamad Nadzri Hussain, Arau district police chief in the northern state of Perlis, told AFP that the 26-year-old teacher had been detained on suspicion of murder.
'The teacher faces the death sentence if found guilty,' he told AFP. More...
