The president’s official decree warns pilots they face a fine of up to £35,500 or six months in prison if they are caught flying less than 910m (3,000ft) over wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy's estate at Cap Negre in Lavandou, near St Tropez.
Last summer the couple caused controversy by closing beaches and a coastal path in the same area so they could sunbathe in private.
The latest ban, brought in last Friday, runs until April 26 and has sparked criticism of the premier's decision to take an 18-day break so soon after ordering military action on two new fronts.
French newspaper Le Post wrote: ‘He has troops in Libya and the Ivory Coast and his lowest popularity ratings ever – and he’s going to sit in the sun for two-and-a-half weeks.’ Source...
