School evacuated after pupil brings in 'WWI hand grenade'

A SCHOOL was evacuated for two hours today after an "unsuspecting" pupil brought in what is thought to be a hand grenade.

The Royal Navy bomb disposal squad and police were called to Vale of Leven Academy in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire, after a teacher raised the alarm.

It is thought the grenade was from the First World War and the pupil brought it to school  as part of a history project.

Staff and pupils were evacuated just after 11am and the bomb disposal team were called in and removed the object. More...
