EU shuts down Twitter feed to hide Berlusconi's indignity...

FREE SPEECH managed to shut down a European Union (EU) experiment to display messages at a summit meeting.

The EU set up two screens to display a live Twitter feed at a summit, only to find it besieged by messages targeting Silvio Berlusconi. Messages referred to the Italian prime minister as a paedophile and mafioso.

"Berlusconi pays for sex, for votes, for mafia protection, for everything he can buy. What he cannot buy, will be stolen," wrote one user. Rarely has Twitter seen such intensity, clarity and grasp of the English language within its 140 character limit. More...
