More woes for Qantas: smoke fills cockpit, fuel pours from wings...

Qantas flew into more trouble today when one of its jets had to turn back to Sydney while heading for Argentina after smoke poured into the cockpit.

It was the fifth incident to strike the Australian airline since a major engine failure forced a superjet to return to Singapore 11 days ago while heading to Sydney.

In today's incident QF17, with 199 passengers and 21 crew, turned back to Sydney after an hour into the flight to Buenos Aires when smoke poured from the instrument panel and began filling the cockpit. More...
