Microsoft Security Essentials zaps nearly 400 million threats in first year...

Microsoft's free Security Essentials anti-virus and malware tool has removed 366 million threats from users' computers since its launch a year ago, the software firm claims.

The software provides basic anti-virus protection to licensed users of the Windows operating system that automatically updates through the Windows update facility.

More than 1.5 million copies were downloaded in the first week, and a year later there are 30 million users worldwide, said Cliff Evans, head of security and privacy at Microsoft UK. More...
