The Federal Migration Office has paid out SFr50,000 ($43,500) to the family of a Nigerian asylum seeker who died while being deported from the country.
A report on the sum in the Sonntag newspaper was confirmed by the Migration Office on Sunday.
Earlier this month a spokeswoman said a payment was being made as a “humanitarian gesture” towards the family. The sum, previously not disclosed, was to help to pay for the funeral costs. More...
