PETA wants to erect bloody chicken statue outside Denver McDonald's...

A 250-pound chicken could come to roost on the 16th Street Mall. The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) applied for a permit to erect a huge chicken statue outside the McDonald's.

PETA wants to keep the statue on the mall all summer. The goal is to draw attention to the ways chickens are slaughtered for McDonald's.

Initially the city was ready to issue the permit -- then it saw the statute. It's 5 feet tall, 250 pounds and It depicts a bloody, battered chicken on crutches with the inscription "McCruelty: I'm Hatin' It." More...
