Thailand's Miss Jumbo Queen, 2009...

This year's Thailand Miss Jumbo Queen 2009 was won by Tarnrarin Chansawang . Thailand is well known for its beautiful women, but this contest is only for those beautiful females who are over 80 kilograms. The average Thai woman tends to be small and petite so the Miss Jumbo Queen is viewed as coming from an elite group. The prize for the winner is 50,000 THB, which is about three month's wages for the average Thai. I would imagine that some people in the west would find the name Miss Jumbo Queen to be a bit offensive, but it was previously referred to as Queen Elephant and this is still how many Thai people refer to it.
