Singapore teenage loan-shark runner gets four years in jail...

A 16-YEAR-OLD girl who committed mischief by fire and harassed debtors on behalf of unlicensed moneylenders was jailed for four years on Thursday.

Nur Azilah Ithnin had earlier admitted to three counts each of harassing debtors and setting fire, and one of attempted mischief by fire at various HDB estates in June.

Community Court judge Soh Tze Bian accepted the prosecution's arguments that youths who resorted to such serious offences to make a quick buck should expect a stiff sentence. More...
