Bush shoe-thrower al-Zaidi arrives in Geneva...

The man who gained fame as the "shoe-thrower of Baghdad" has arrived in Switzerland on a tourist visa.

Muntazer al-Zaidi flew into Geneva from Beirut on Tuesday, accompanied by his brother.

Zaidi, who was released from an Iraqi prison two weeks ago, was granted a tourist visa last week.

He has said he intends to set up a foundation for civilian victims of the war in Iraq with its headquarters in Geneva. It will be funded by money he received from people who wanted to demonstrate their solidarity with him.

In 2008 Zaidi, a journalist, hurled his shoes at then US President George W. Bush at a Baghdad news conference, shouting: "This is your parting gift, you dog!"
