Teen gangs in Australia targeting overseas students...

TEENAGE gangs are targeting vulnerable overseas students, according to national police statistics that show the average age of the attackers is just 16 -- with some as young as 13.

Of the 24 offenders charged with assault and armed robbery since March last year in Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast, 19 -- 80 per cent -- were aged between 13 and 17, figures obtained by The Australian show.

"It's mostly group or gang behaviour," said Melbourne Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science director Jim Ogloff. "There are clear cases of people setting out to bash for no better reason than to bash, and because some people look different. Sadly it's a catalyst." More...
