More than 35 million people across the world suffer from Alzheimer's disease, dementia...

More than 35 million people around the world are living with Alzheimer's disease or other types of dementia, says the most in-depth attempt yet to assess the brain-destroying illness - and it's an ominous forecast as the population grays.

The new count is about 10 percent higher than what scientists had predicted just a few years ago, because earlier research underestimated Alzheimer's growing impact in developing countries.

Barring a medical breakthrough, the World Alzheimer Report projects dementia will nearly double every 20 years. By 2050, it will affect a staggering 115.4 million people, the report concludes. More...

Don't miss:

  1. You get Alzheimer’s because you "marry other species???"
  2. Family assisted suicide in Britain no longer a crime...
  3. Scientists study 'out of body experiences...'
  4. Old people with dementia have a duty to die and should be pushed towards death...

  1. We must reduce this number. There are a many preventative measures against Alzheimer’s one of which is called the Okinawa method created by the village in Okinawa that has the most numbers of centenarian (people over 100) in the world. It promotes wellness, memory exercise and good health which has proven to reduce Alzheimer’s and dementia and also add extra years to your life. I know that there’s a program for home care based on the Okinawa method called the balanced care method.

  2. Yes, we must certainly try and reduce this number if we can. Someone in my entourage suffered from this disease and it was a terribly tragic affair.
