Cameroon president on $40,000 a day French vacation while the people face poverty...

The President of Cameroon has been attacked for taking a lavish holiday in France said to be costing almost £25,000 every day.

Paul Biya is on a three-week trip to La Baule in southern France and staying in the five-star L'Hermitage Barriere hotel.

He, his wife Chantal and their entourage are claimed to have booked 43 rooms there for their 20 day stay in the region.

The President is allegedly spending $40,000 (£24,500) every single day, taking the total cost of the trip to half a million pounds.

The trip has provoked anger in France because the French said in July it would give Cameroon 537million euros to help it fight debt and poverty. More...
