50% of pregnant British women will refuse swine flu vaccine...

Half of all pregnant women look set to turn down the swine flu vaccine when it comes available later this year, because of fears over its safety.

A poll has found that mothers to be will refuse to have the jab because they are worried it could do more harm than good to themselves and their babies.

And the same proportion of mums say they would not take their young children to be immunised, even though they are most at risk of catching the virus.

It raises the prospect that many of the millions of vaccines that the Government has ordered - at a cost of many millions of pounds - will never be used because people do not trust ministers' insistence that they are safe. More...
