A FRENCH general has said that seven French monks murdered in Algeria in 1996 were killed by the army there rather than Islamist militants and that Paris helped cover up the truth.
General Francois Buchwalter said that Algerian soldiers killed the monks by mistake and the French state covered up the blunder.
General Buchwalter was at the time France's military attaché in Algiers and was told of the incident by an Algerian soldier who claimed his brother had participated in the killings of the seven abducted monks. More...
