Dalit in India beaten to death for stealing vegetables...

A Dalit, who was brutally thrashed allegedly by two farmers for stealing vegetables from their fields, succumbed to injuries, leading to suspension of three policemen for not filing an FIR in the case, police said today. 

Srikrishna Bahelia was badly beaten allegedly by Subash Chandra and Sitaram on July 18 for stealing vegetables from their field. But it was only after he died yesterday that police swung into action and lodged an FIR. 

Taking serious view of the incident, authorities yesterday suspended Station House Officer, Alahu police station, Akhilesh Tripathi, outpost incharge Rajesh Kumar and constable Malkhan Singh.
