Actress Joanna Lumley greeted like a goddess in Nepal...

The actress Joanna Lumley was garlanded with strings of marigolds as she arrived in Nepal today to a hero's welcome. 

Some 2,000 Gurkhas and family members greeted the 63-year-old star at Kathmandu aiport, carrying banners praising "goddess Joanna" and declaring "Joanna Lumley - daughter of Nepal." 

The old soldiers had come to the voice appreciation -- even veneration -- felt here for the actress after she spearheaded a campaign that won Gurkha veterans the right to settle in Britain. More...
