Gabon denies Omar Bongo's death...

Gabon's government has denied French media reports that President Omar Bongo - Africa's longest-serving leader - has died at a clinic in Spain.

Prime Minister Jean Eyeghe Ndong said 73-year-old Mr Bongo is "alive and well", reported AFP news agency. 

The premier criticised reports of the veteran leader's death in French media. 

Mr Bongo suspended his work as head of the oil-rich nation in May and was being treated in Barcelona, reportedly for cancer. More...
