A youth was tied to a tree and beaten to death for allegedly stealing a cellphone at Bachepally village in Kalheru mandal of Medak district late on Tuesday night.
The body of the accused, Vadla Kistaiah (28), was found tied to a neem tree close to his house early on Wednesday by some passers-by, who immediately alerted the police.
Sources said three women and three men went to Kistaiah’s house when he was asleep, dragged him out and tied him to the tree. They then launched a brutal attack on him, beating him up with sticks.
