An international search was launched after Leo Gao and his Australian girlfriend Cara Young suddenly disappeared from New Zealand's tourist town of Rotorua.
The pair had asked for a £4,000 overdraft for their petrol station business, but a blunder by staff at the Westpac bank paid 1,000 times more - £4m.
