Whatever happened to freedom of speech in Ireland? This is the question posed today by Professor Len Doyal, professor emeritus at the London School of Medicine and Dentistry and St Bartholomew’s hospital, after he was prevented from delivering a lecture on euthanasia last Thursday in Cork University Hospital.
The elderly professor was called “a Nazi” and “a murderer” after being confronted by an “angry mob”. The event had to be abandoned when security staff decided he should be removed for his own safety. One yob bluntly told Professor Doyal that if he tried to speak he would be stopped. More...
