The Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at former US President George W Bush has been sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting a foreign leader.
Thirty-year-old Muntadhar al-Zeidi had pleaded not guilty to the charge.
He said his action was a "natural response to the occupation" and shouted "long live Iraq" when the verdict was read out today.
Al-Zeidi has been in custody since throwing his shoes at Mr Bush during a news conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in December.
