Spain has rejected a final appeal for asylum by a son of Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and will deport him to Egypt, a lawyer for the man said today.
Officials were preparing to put Omar Osama bin Laden on a plane to Cairo later today after his appeal was turned down, lawyer Bianca Sharma told The Associated Press.
The younger bin Laden, 27, flew to Spain on Monday and remains in a transit area at Madrid's Barajas Airport. He claimed he would not be safe if returned to an Arab country, but Sharma said that argument was rejected.
"His petition was denied for political reasons," Sharma said. "He has nowhere to go, he cannot go to any country." More...
