The most-watched TV broadcast in England? Why, its 1966 World Cup victory, of course!!!


ENGLAND’S victory in the 1966 World Cup Final is the most-watched TV broadcast in British history.

An amazing 32.3million viewers tuned in to see the Three Lions’ 4-2 win over West Germany at Wembley.

But the massive ratings are even more remarkable because only 15m households at the time owned a TV set.

Princess Diana’s 1997 funeral was in second place in the list of the UK’s most watched shows with 32.1m viewers, followed by a 1969 Royal Family documentary at 30.69m. More...
