In the Beginning

Paul, John and George perform at a wedding reception in 1958, when amongst other names, the group was known as The Quarrymen.

The Cavern Club

In February, 1961, the group played a lunchtime gig at the Cavern Club, a blues and beat club on Mathew Street, the first of 292 appearances they would make there. In this photo, taken of the group on the club's tiny stage, Pete Best plays drums. He would perform with the group until 1962, when he was replaced by Ringo Starr. More...
