Stephen Hadley, Bush’s National Security Advisor, in an interview on ABC television, keeps saying « Nepal » instead of « Tibet ». And this, I think, is the crux of a very interesting problem. How many of those now protesting against China and calling for a “free Tibet” can locate the roof of the world on a map? Or, for that matter, how many really know anything about Tibet or China? And what kind of confidence can we have in politicians when a top security officer to the most powerful country in the world keeps confusing Tibet with Nepal?
