Under a gloomy sky and in a no-frills park dotted with muddy patches, about 50 people found a little cheer Sunday afternoon.
One of those was Madeleine Gradys.
Gradys, 41, who came to the United States from Haiti 14 years ago, was evicted from her apartment six months ago and has been homeless ever since.
She's cleaned houses and offices but hasn't been able to find work since 2009. Now she's working on her GED so she can get a job as a medical assistant. More...
