Thailand: airport chaos continues as riot police flee...

Thousands of anti-government protesters in Thailand escalated their airport siege today by forcing scores of riot police to flee and capturing an officer.

Around 3,000 travellers, including several hundred Britons remain stranded in Bangkok with all civilian air traffic blocked as the standoff entered its fifth day.

About 2,000 People’s Alliance for Democracy supporters, who are trying oust Thai Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat, today closed a police checkpoint near Suvarnabhumi International Airport. More...
