Across Time and Space

Some time ago I watched a Korean movie called Il Mare. It’s a strange story about two people communicating between different time zones, using a mail-box as a kind of magical time machine. Their thoughts and emotions, parcelled into words, fly through space and meander around time, affecting their lives, creating their reality. Maybe, it would be more accurate to say that, for them, there is neither space nor time. They simply communicate.

Ours has become a world where communication is everything. Or almost. Is there anything that we do that does not communicate something to someone? Everything we do sends a message, the way we talk, the things we eat, the clothes we wear. We are communicators.

Don’t ask me why I decided to start a blog. I honestly don’t know. Maybe it’s just an ego trip that will give me some masochistic pleasure in revealing how little I know, and secretly gloating that others know even less than I do!! Or maybe it’s just a wish to cut across space and time and to see what others are doing, or thinking, or feeling. A desire, perhaps, to be in the timeless NOW and feel the pulse of the earth, through people I know and, maybe, through those I don’t know … yet.

Who knows, something might happen.

  2. Wow, Steve! You really flatter me, and I don't think I deserve it! I'll try my best, though, to make the world "a little more sane".

  3. You know me better than to think that I would flatter you. You have spend your whole life studying/ observing the the nature of Man. Surely, you must have a store of knowledge, if not, wisdom to share. I read your comment today during a break in class on my mobile phone internet feature. I marveled how the world has changed and indeed you are right to say that we are all communicators. Except that I still can't figure out how to send this comment via my phone:( Tchuss!
